C O N F I D E N T I A L ANKARA 002404 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: DECL: 04/28/2014 TAGS: IS, PREL, TU SUBJECT: DEMARCHE ON UNGA RESOLUTION ON UN PALESTINIAN OBSERVER MISSION STATUS: TURKEY REF: STATE 92528 (U) Classified by Political Counselor John Kunstadter, E.O. 12958, reasons 1.4 (b) and (d). 1. (C) We delivered reftel demarche April 28 to Turkish MFA Middle East Department Head Tuzun. He undertook to send reftel points, which we provided in written form, to the Turkish delegation in New York for their comment. The MFA will decide its position after receiving the delegation's opinion. Tuzun suggested the U.S. delegation in New York also communicate with the Turkish delegation. 2. (C) Tuzun predicted that Turkey's stance on the issue will be greatly influenced by the EU's position. EDELMAN
