US embassy cable - 04KATHMANDU554

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

(C) On March 24 Ambassador delivered reftel demarche to
Foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya in the absence of the
Foreign Minister. Acharya indicated that the Government of
Nepal is unlikely to support either resolution, both because
of Nepal's close geographical and diplomatic relations with
China and because of its unwillingness to break solidarity
with other G-77 nations, to which Nepal looks for support on
its own human rights problems.
