UNCLAS AMMAN 007430 SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PREL, PHUM, JO SUBJECT: JORDANIAN SUPPORT FOR U.S. CANDIDATE TO UN COMMITTEE ON THE ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION REF: STATE 309039 PolOff covered reftel talking points November 12 with Dr. Khaled Takhayneh of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in support of the candidacy of Ralph Boyd to the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD). PolOff later delivered a diplomatic note in support of Mr. Boyd's candidacy. On November 16, Dr. Takhayneh faxed a diplomatic note to PolOff stating that Jordan will vote in favor of the U.S. candidate to the CERD.
