1. (U) PolOff delivered a follow-up demarche October 30
supporting the candidacy of Ms. Felice Gaer for re-election
to the UN Committee Against Torture to Ayman Al-Amiri, Acting
Head of the International Organizations (IO) Department of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Khaled Takhayneh,
also of the IO Department. Post previously approached the
MFA on October 20 in support of Ms. Gaer's candidacy (see ref
b).
2. (C) In response, Takhayneh said that Ms. Gaer was "well
qualified" and that it was "likely" that Jordan would vote in
favor of her re-election.
