US embassy cable - 03AMMAN6604

Disclaimer: This site has been first put up 15 years ago. Since then I would probably do a couple things differently, but because I've noticed this site had been linked from news outlets, PhD theses and peer rewieved papers and because I really hate the concept of "digital dark age" I've decided to put it back up. There's no chance it can produce any harm now.

As requested ref a, post confirms that prescreening and
resettlement interviews for the 77 Sudanese and Somali
refugees from UNHCR's Ruweished refugee camp will take place
at the UNHCR office in Amman, Jordan. UNHCR has agreed to
bus the refugees from the Ruweished refugee camp to Amman
and to provide hotel accommodations during the interviews.
The GOJ also has agreed to these arrangements and will
provide police escort for the refugees en route to and from
Amman, as well as on-site security at the UNHCR office in
