SUBJECT: SECURITY EVALUATION OF REFUGEE PROCESSING SITE -
UNHCR OFFICE IN AMMAN, JORDAN

As requested ref a, post confirms that prescreening and
resettlement interviews for the 77 Sudanese and Somali
refugees from UNHCR's Ruweished refugee camp will take place
at the UNHCR office in Amman, Jordan. UNHCR has agreed to
bus the refugees from the Ruweished refugee camp to Amman
and to provide hotel accommodations during the interviews.
The GOJ also has agreed to these arrangements and will
provide police escort for the refugees en route to and from
Amman, as well as on-site security at the UNHCR office in
Amman. There will be no need for Embassy Amman or DHS staff
to travel to Ruweished for prescreening or resettlement
interviews. Information regarding specific security
arrangements at UNHCR's Amman office was reported refs b and
c.
