UNCLAS THE HAGUE 002299 SIPDIS SENSITIVE E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: KPKO, PREL, MOPS, LI, NL SUBJECT: DUTCH ON SUPPORTING THE UN'S REQUEST FOR LIBERIA REF: STATE 260879 (SBU) As instructed reftel, PolMilOff conveyed U.S. support for the UN request for a Dutch Amphibious Transport Dock (LPD) and signals intelligence unit to MFA Security Policy Bureau Operations Chief Rob Gabrielse on September 12. Gabrielse said the issue of what assets the GONL might be able to supply for operations in Liberia was currently the subject of high-level discussion between Dutch MFA and MOD. MOD is studying what assets it might be able to make available, but no conclusions had been reached to date. SOBEL
