(SBU) As per instructions reftel, the following are non-FAA approved flight schools in Jordan. The information was provided to us by Civil Aviation Authority Director General Hanna Najjar: A) Name: Sun Air Aviation Address: PO Box 811573 Amman, Jordan Website: www.sun-aviation.com Type of aircraft: Cessna 152 Number of students: 8 (2 aircraft) Nationality of students: Jordanian (5), Sudanese (2), Swedish (1) (Note: Sun Air Aviation management told econoff it has a joint venture with Global Group Aviation of Glendale, Arizona. End note) B) Name: Mideast Academy for Aviation, Maintenance, and Management Address: PO Box 341951 Amman, Jordan Website: www.mideastaviation.com Type of aircraft: Archer III and Seminole (4 aircraft) Number of students: 25 Nationality of students: Jordanian (12), Saudi (4), Syrian (3), Qatari (3), Kuwaiti (3), Lebanese (1), Libyan (1) (Note: Currently seeking partnership with a U.S. air academy or university. (SBU) In addition, Najjar furnished the following information to us regarding an FAA-approved flight school: A) Name: Royal Jordanian Air Academy Address: PO Box 340513 Amman, Jordan Website: www.rja.net Type of aircraft: Cherokee E-140 (3), Piper (4), Warrior 11-161 (5), TB 20 (2), PA 34-200 T (2) Number of students: 93 Nationality of students: Jordanian (25), Libyan (25), Saudi (23), Syrian (7), Palestinian (3), Sudanese (2), Egyptian (2), Kuwaiti (2), Yemeni (2), Tunisian (1), Indonesian (1) (Note: Subsidiary of Royal Jordanian Airlines currently up for sale. End note) 3. (SBU) Najjar added that the Jordanian government does very thorough police and intelligence background and name checks for all flight academy students.
